Veto power of the
5 permanent members of the UN Security Council to be abolished
Tehran
- 210 Iranian MPs issued a statement on Tuesday in support of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s
Monday speech at the United Nations conference on racism in Geneva and condemned the efforts to interrupt the president’s speech by
supporters of Israel. Ahmadinejad had proposed that the veto power of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council should be immediately
abolished, and urged all the free nations of the world to make relentless efforts for uprooting the curse of
Zionism. The United States, Israel, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany,
Italy, Poland, and New Zealand have boycotted the conference.
