Kabul - A gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform opened fire on foreign troops
Friday in northern Afghanistan, killing two German soldiers and woundimg
eight other German troops. The victims were working on a vehicle when the shooting
occurred. The shootout took place inside an Afghan-NATO military base in the Poza-e-Eshan area of Baghlan
province. The attack came a day after German minister Guttenberg visited the
province on a surprise trip, overnighting at the OP North outpost and returning to Germany on Thursday
evening. Forty-six German troops have been killed since the Bundeswehr began participating in the ISAF mission in 2001.
