Torture
by German authorities
Cleveland/Munich - The family of retired Ohio autoworker John Demjanjuk
has asked Tuesday a US federal appeals court in Ohio to block his deportation to Germany while he seeks to have his case
reviewed, because he is too sick to travel and that being deported to Germany amounts to
torture. The U.S. Justice Department had opposed his previous appeals.
An arrest warrant delivered by Munich principal
prosecutor Manfred Nötzel accuses the frail 89-year-old of serving as a
camp guard in WW II. Ulrich Staudigl, a spokesman for the Justice Ministry in Berlin, said Demjanjuk
was expected soon. Guenther Maull, a Munich-based official lawyer said that
because his fair blood values Demjanjuk could arrive in Germany on
Wednesday. Demjanjuks transport to Munich hae been meticulously planned by the German
authorities. The airplain will not be a normal airliner, but a special
ambulance machine with equipment to transport patients suffering from
fatal diseases. The arrest warrent shall be handed over in the plane.
